Welcome

" Ishbel Macdonald, Paintings and Prints" is a studio gallery in Balnakeil Craft Village, Durness, Sutherland, showing the work of Glasgow School of Art trained painter, Ishbel Macdonald.

The gallery was established by Ishbel in 1988 as "The Printmaker's Gallery." It is within sight of the magnificent sweep of Balnakeil Bay, which provides much of the subject matter for Ishbel's paintings - from historic Balnakeil House and Church to the cliffs of Farhaid Head - home to puffins, fulmars and ravens.
Ishbel's work reflects her love of the birds, seascapes and landscapes of the coast of Northwest Sutherland, and is in many private collections in Britain and abroad.

The village of Durness is the most northwesterly community on the British mainland. There is ample accommodation for visitors including hotels, b&b's and a campsite. There are ancient historical sights and an infomative tourist information centre open all year round.

The gallery is open from Easter till October, but if you can't make it to our wild and beautiful part of the world, you can purchase work by the artist via this website.
