Paintings.
This is a selection of work from my home in Durness, Sutherland. Proximity to the sea is essential to my work. Walking on the beach, studying the movement of the sea, the birdlife, and the everchanging shoreline is both a form of meditation and inspiration.
I prefer to make drawings and colour studies in the landscape, which I then develop back in my studio. I work in water based media, mostly acrylic paint and acrylic ink, sometimes incorporating printmaking techniques. Paintings are often the distillation of memory and imagination, based on thirty years of living and working on the north coast of Sutherland.
